Personal Background

I come from a long tradition in the building industry beginning with my grandfather and father who founded Anawalt Lumber Company in Los Angeles in 1924. Majoring in Art and Architecture, I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon. I have a Masters Degree from Washington State University where I taught for seven years. I did real estate and solar housing, developing the first envelope passive solar home in Nevada County in 1980. I have owned and operated an architecture related design/ manufacturing business in Sacramento for twenty five years. My son, Zackary Anawalt, continues the family building tradition into the fourth generation through real estate and building design. My wife and I have three children and four grandchildren
